Restore your beautiful, youthful breast contour
As women age, they may notice that their breasts sag due to loss of skin elasticity. Time, gravity, weight loss, pregnancy, or breast-feeding may negatively affect the position and shape of the breasts, leading many women to desire a breast lift (mastopexy) from Monterey plastic surgeon Dr. Douglas Sunde.
Desired Results of Breast Lift Surgery
Women may seek a breast lift if they are satisfied with their breast size, but would like to restore a firmer, more youthful breast contour. Breast lift cosmetic surgery can enhance a woman’s confidence and comfort, helping bras to fit more comfortably and lending a more flattering fit to clothing.

A Personalized Approach to Breast Lift
During the initial consultation visit, Dr. Sunde realistically discusses breast lift cosmetic surgery goals. Together, the doctor and patient decide which procedures Dr. Sunde will perform to achieve the desired results. For example, patients with overly large, sagging breasts may be happiest with a breast reduction, which also includes a breast lift.
Once a date for surgery is set, our office will provide instructions about how to prepare. The patient also schedules a pre-operative appointment to review her medical history, take pre-operative photographs, and discuss any other questions or concerns she may have about the procedure.
Monterey Breast Lift Procedure Details
On the day of surgery, the patient has a final consultation with Dr. Sunde. The breast lift procedure is performed while the patient is under general anesthesia, administered by a board certified anesthesiologist to ensure the highest degree of safety. Dr. Sunde offers several breast lift incision options, which usually heal well and present minimal scarring.
Which of these incision techniques he uses depends on the degree of sagging as well as the patient’s individual goals:
- Crescent lift: the most minimal lift, it leaves a slight scar on the upper areola
- Circumareolar lift: also called a “donut” or Benelli lift, it creates an incision around the areola
- Circumvertical lift: also known as a “lollipop” incision, it runs vertically from the bottom edge of the areola to the breast crease underneath
- Anchor lift: the most extensive lift, the incision runs around the nipple, vertically from the bottom edge of the areola, and then horizontally beneath the breast; also a common incision technique for breast reduction surgery
Women who undergo a breast lift procedure in Monterey may be sore for a few days after the operation, but most women are able to resume normal activities soon afterward. Dr. Sunde will go over detailed recovery instructions at the pre-surgical appointment.
